Had too much Seasonal Festivity?

Dixons Shares Soar  Do we have another Amazon in the making here?  No, not Dixons selling books/cds/videos, but being the first major player in a revolutionary access method to the Net.  I'm talking about FreeServe - their "free" unlimited access service (as mentioned in these pages earlier in the month).  Dixons shares hit an all time high last week which some analysts put down to FreeServe.  When other major retailers are not fairing so well Dixons seems to be bucking that trend.

Customer.com-book_cover.gif (2597 bytes) "Customers.com"   These days it's very fashionable to talk about customer service, customers being "king" and customer focus.  And that's about all it ever is, talk!   Patricia Seybold recently launched her excellent book on the subject.  She rightly points out that, "If you attempt to conduct business electronically without integrating your information systems, educating key departments, and keeping an unblinking eye on customer loyalty, you will virtually disappear."  Customers.com is a set of business and technology strategies for winning the customer loyalty race by making it easy for customers to do business with you.  It's well written and easy to read too!   See her site at Customers.com.  Buy the book with a 20% discount! at uk_w_logo_small.gif (876 bytes)

UK Missing Children   Well the site we talked about on the 7th of December made it online; "UK Missing Children Web Site".  It's a bit bare bones at the moment, though it does allow you to search for missing children using a variety of criteria.  It does not seem to be restricted to UK missing persons.

Win the Lottery  If you want to enhance your odds of winning the lottery, check out Southampton University's Lottery Research page.  But don't give up your day job just yet :-)

More UK Shops Online   Here's a few more to add to our list.   Diesel (spot the nauseating Xmas midi that plays - appropriately named bighell.mid !), and some of the GUS companies are now online... Shoppers Universe, Kays Catalogue, Stocking Fillers.  Other GUS members that have been online for a while are: Argos, Innovations, Sports Elite, McCord, and Brainwaves.

Bit too festive?  See our list of online guides to preventing and treating those seasonal hangovers!
