CyberHome Base

Pendle.Net -> CyberHome Base

"At the end of the day, people live their lives within 15 to 20 miles of their house.   Essentially, we all live our lives locally.  And [we] began to understand that developing a local presence is what could ultimately turn the web into a mass medium."
Charles Conn, the CEO of Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch, Forbes Digital Tool, 26 Feb 1999

What's a "CyberHome Base"?

It's kind of like where you hang out when you're doing nothing else; when you park up in neutral and hang around with your compatriots.  Have a quick chat with friends online, find out where all the coolest places to explore are.  Like your own bedroom you'll want to decorate it with whatever turns you on, and make it as comfortable as possible; read your mail, scan thru the latest headlines (customized to your own interests of course), check your diary, chat with friends, browse thru the latest offerings from your shopping bots...

These are just some ideas.  As we develop the site and extend facilities we hope to offer more of these features... and anything else you can think of that's feasible.

It's more than a portal.  Portals are today's fad, we think that this "portal fad" will eventually evolve into something like the concept we've outlined above.   We also strongly believe that lots of people want to be associated with the geographical area that they have their physical roots.  That's one of the main reasons that we're called Pendle.Net (and we have, in planning, sibling sites Colne.Net, Burnley.Net, Clitheroe.Net, RibbleValley.Net. Bury.Net, Rochdale.Net, and more.
